Launched in 2010, HEX is a division of August Accessories, a 21 year old company known for its design,
development and execution of innovative fashion accessories products. August Accessories products can be found in major store chains around the world under its own labels and private label for other world-renowned brands.  By utilizing this extensive experience in street wear and modern fashion, HEX draws on the strength of August Accessories’ history and channels it in an innovative new direction.

Founders Dan Maravilla and Trent Valladares met in their high-school years in Southern California. Both musicians, they cut their teeth in the performance and marketing of musical groups in Los Angeles. After years in the music and art scene, they decided to work together in a small, start-up, family business that grew into August Accessories. Over time spent designing and marketing for various brands under license their interest in defining their own brand and statement grew. In 2010, that brand was born, and that brand is HEX.

From Nick Visconti — If my time in this industry has taught me anything, it is to “expect the unexpected.” In the world of action sports, extreme progression quickly devalues what was once regarded as exceptional. What does this process look like? The exceptional becomes the expected, the expected becomes the standard, and the standard becomes monotonous and mundane. How then does a media platform, endemic brand, or professional snowboarder assault this vicious cycle? Do what is unexpected.

Arbor Snowboards is proud to welcome Curtis Woodman to their snowboard team. Woodman was born in Sacramento, California and currently resides in Truckee, California. “I’ve been a Curtis Woodman fan since the Neoproto days and I’m fired up to be working with him now,” says Arbor team director, Brad Farmer. “Curtis has a snowboarding ability and style that most can only dream of. If last season is any indication of where he’s headed, it’s going to be exciting to watch over the next couple of years. I believe he will be an amazing leader of the Arbor ‘Roots’ snowboard program and I can’t wait to see what he does in the backcountry this season.”

“I have honestly heard that I should ride for Arbor more times than I can count and I feel blessed to be a part of such an amazing family of snowboarders,” says Woodman. “Arbor is raw and environmentally friendly, what else could I want from a brand?” Curtis is a big fan of Arbor’s traditional wood topsheet look. “There’s nothing better than looking down at a beautiful piece of wood underneath your feet. I like being in my element on my Arbor Element snowboard.”
Look for Woodman to be filming for a major film project this coming season. He will be riding Arbor’s Blacklist, Draft and Element RX snowboards as well as spending a season testing the Arbor Abacus splitboard that’s due to be released in 2013.

In the first installment of the 2011 Get Elevated Series, the Arbor Skateboards team including James Kelly, Kody Noble, Max Myers, Eric Singer, Jimmy Riha and Duke Degen meet up at the Skate House in Los Angeles before heading Northeast into the Sierras. After a long drive and by sheer serendipity, they find a driving guide which leads to a road nestled in the mountain range nearby. Turns out the pavement is super burly with huge cracks across the road the entire way down. After the impromptu session is over, the team rests their heads in Mammoth Lakes in preparation to skate the area the following day. Days 2 and 3 will be featured in the in episode of the Get Elevated Tour.

The bizarre adventures continue for the Van Delirium crew as they make their way to Mt. Hood, Oregon for some quick laps and backyard sessions at the Summits. Then they head off to Stevens Pass, Washington for a couple days of backcountry fun (imagine rail kids in the backcountry.) Things get weird for the Van crew as the long trip and the Delirium settles in.

Arbor Snowboards sent a deep crew of riders to Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails including last year’s winner, Nick Visconti as well as Ian Sams, Scotty Vine and Cody Boan. This is their vision of Bear Mountain’s Hot Dawgz & Hand Rails much of which was shot through the eye of a Red Camera.

Head on down to the Ivy Nightclub on St-Laurent on Friday, September 23rd for some good times.

Chippa Wilson heard we’ve got a new magic stick we’ve been working on, and he just had to have one. Coming in at 5’7 x 18 3/4 x 2 3/16, it feels good. Looks nice, eh? Don’t worry, this secret sled will be available for mass consumption in January. So hold your breath till then, and look for footage of Chippa on this board real soon.
